Our Vision

To create an innovative learning environment that nurtures children’s development holistically

Our Centre Philosophy

Dominion Childcare Centre is to be a “home away from home” where the children are cared for in a truly holistic way. Our Centre will provide opportunities for the children to develop their potential to become confident and competent learners who are honest and kind.

Our teachers and staff are guided by the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi of Partnership, Protection and Participation. The basis of our teachers’ practice is embedded in Te Whaariki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum.

At Dominion Childcare Centre, we believe our children

explore in a nurturing and caring learning place. Being respected and affirmed as individuals,

experiencing responsive and reciprocal relationships allows children to become confident and competent individuals.

Having their play valued as meaningful learning and developing their thinking, reasoning, creativity, communication and physical skills through their play, will support children’s learning.

Having their own ethnic culture acknowledged and having respect of other cultures, we believe this supports children to feel a sense of belonging to include their families in the Centre life, and discover the world, they live in, so they are being prepared for a life-long journey of learning.
